For a traditional Khokhloma appearance, combine antique gold, deep red, warm green and black. Several shades of gold can create more depth than a single flat yellow tone.
Rayon embroidery thread produces a soft, glossy finish that resembles the polished surface of traditional decorative painting. It is a strong choice for pillows, wall panels and ceremonial textiles.
Polyester embroidery thread is more practical for tote bags, jackets, table linens and washable household items. It retains its color well and tolerates regular handling.
