This design is not intended for a 100x100 mm (4x4") hoop. The smallest included file measures 129.2x129.1 mm and requires a working field of at least 130x180 mm (5x7").

Select the format supported by your embroidery machine. Before stitching, open the file on the machine screen and verify its dimensions, orientation, color sequence and position inside the hoop.

6. Save the combined composition under a new filename.

Choose lettering with a stitch weight that visually matches the frame. Extremely thin letters may disappear beside the filled botanical elements, while an oversized heavy font can make the composition look crowded.

The frame works best on stable woven fabrics that can support its stitch count:

• linen weighing approximately 150–200 g/m² or more;
• cotton-linen blends;
• canvas and duck cloth;
• firm twill;
• smooth kitchen-towel fabric;
• non-stretch fabric for decorative panels.

Prewash, dry and press cotton or linen before embroidery. Natural fabrics may shrink during their first wash and distort a design that was embroidered before the fabric was prepared.

Which Stabilizer Should I Use?

Use a medium-weight tear-away stabilizer for stable cotton, linen and canvas. Because the eggplant frame contains filled areas and between 22933 and 42502 stitches, lightweight or loosely woven fabric may require an adhesive tear-away or medium-weight cut-away stabilizer.

For the 178.2x178.2 mm and 198.1x198.1 mm versions, a cut-away stabilizer can provide better long-term support, particularly on bags, cushions or items that will be washed frequently.

On waffle-weave kitchen towels, use a firm lower stabilizer and consider adding a thin water-soluble topping. The topping prevents small decorative stitches from sinking between the raised sections of the fabric.

Needle, Thread and Embroidery Speed

• Use a fresh 75/11 embroidery needle for standard cotton or linen.
• Choose an 80/12 needle for canvas, duck cloth or a heavy apron.
• Use 40-weight polyester thread for washable kitchen textiles.
• Use 40-weight rayon thread for decorative napkins, panels or placemats.
• Embroider at approximately 600–700 stitches per minute.
• Reduce the speed if the fabric shifts or the outlines stop aligning with the filled areas.

Several shades of purple can give the eggplants more depth. Combine dark plum for shadows, rich violet for the main fill and a lighter lavender tone for highlights. Use two or three greens to separate the leaves, stems and decorative botanical details.

How to Prevent Puckering Around the Frame

1. Prewash and press the fabric if it is likely to shrink.
2. Choose a stabilizer that can support the selected stitch count.
3. Hoop the fabric and stabilizer evenly without stretching the material.
4. Tighten the hoop screw before placing the hoop in the machine.
5. Use a new needle and good-quality embroidery thread.
6. Reduce the embroidery speed on loosely woven fabric.
7. Do not pull the stabilizer away aggressively after stitching.
8. Press the completed embroidery from the reverse side over a soft towel.
