Both versions are available in popular formats — PES, DST, EXP, and others — compatible with most embroidery machines.
For clean, crisp stitching results, select your stabilizer according to the weight of the fabric.
Use this simple stabilizer weight formula:
Fabric weight (g/m²) ÷ 3 = Recommended stabilizer weight (g/m²)
For example, if your fabric weighs 180 g/m², your stabilizer should be approximately 60 g/m².
A tear-away stabilizer is most commonly used for this type of embroidery.
It works perfectly on cotton, linen, twill, canvas, or medium-weight satin fabrics.
For lighter or stretchy materials (such as organza or jersey), use a temporary adhesive stabilizer or water-soluble film for best results.
Cut a piece of stabilizer slightly larger than your hoop.
Hoop the fabric together with the stabilizer — this prevents shifting during stitching.
Ensure the fabric is smooth and evenly tensioned, without wrinkles.
If needed, secure with temporary spray adhesive.
After embroidery, gently remove excess stabilizer without damaging the stitches.
Once your embroidery is complete, lightly steam-press from the reverse side.
The Piper Piping Boy — 12 Days of Christmas Machine Embroidery Design will add warmth, melody, and a festive spirit to any handmade creation — from cozy cushions to heirloom quilts.
